Our stay, in two parts

The mud and the marvels.

Vault toilets but no water. Pack ten gallons minimum if you stay more than two nights.

No cell signal. The closest connection is back at the visitor center 30 minutes away.

The Needles district is fifteen minutes away. The North Six-Shooter peak rises right outside the trailer door.

Best season

When to go.

October and April. Summer is brutal; winter freezes the road in.

Reservation tips

How to book.

  • First-come, first-served — climbers flood it in October weekends.
  • Sites 1–3 are level. 6 and up tilt slightly.
